(29/2/2008) Future Village had allocated Rs10,200 (around HKD1,260) to provide food for four families concerned. The money was used for two-month food provision.
At the same time, we received donation of HKD10,000 from zealous donors and this sum of money had been transferred to families concerned for refurbishment of irrigation facilities and farmland. It was hoped that the farmland could be replenished to welcome the farming season.
Background:
This year Future Village encountered the worst attack of monsoon rain. Heavy rain had flushed away lots of soil and caused landslides in a few areas in the village. The affected areas stretched across 300 metres. This damaged all the rice seedlings planted, and this foretold the food shortage which might last three to nine months.
We are now soliciting your participation in assisting the villagers concerned. Future Village would offer help to maintain two-month food provision for families who are in urgent need. It is hoped that more funds will be raised to rebuild homes and maintain lives.
Details of the most-affected families are as below:
1. Ram Chhadra Sapkota (6-member household)
2. Ram Hari Sapkota (5-member household)
3. Eaka Adhikari (9-member household)
4. Kaje Sapkota (5-member household)
Money received will be used for:
1. purchase of food;
2. financial aid to assist families to replenish farmland which had suffered soil erosion
Photos:
1) serious landslides had uprooted some trees
2) vast area of farmland had been damaged
3) rice fields were severely damaged, which made the replenishment difficult
